Those who have been going to the SAP Center (formerly known as the HP Pavilion) for years like myself for San Jose Sharks games and concerts, know that this venue is prime for a top class show like Armin Only. The size, history, layout, organization, and location are what I can imagine drew Armin and his camp to San Jose. With so many other classic shows that have happened at this great looking arena, Armin Only: Intense will certainly rank among one of the greats to remember. Even though the show isn’t for 6 months, excitement couldn’t get any higher. We finally got what we’ve been lobbying for years to try and achieve. One thing is clear: the Bay Area is ready for Armin van Buuren. Come May 1st, San Jose will get “Intense”! This never-before-seen spectacle features Armin leading the world’s biggest dance party from his custom-made 76-foot-wide DJ booth along with a troupe of acrobats, dancers, live singers and musicians set to bleeding-edge visuals, pyrotechnics…and much more.

This was it. After this tweet was fired off, weeks of anticipation came to a head as thousands rushed to to purchase tickets to the highly revered spectacle that is Armin Only. It was a moment that seemed all so surreal for Bay Area trance fans. Ever since it was announced on A State Of Trance and the Armin Only website that Armin van Buuren was finally bringing Armin Only to the Bay Area after years of lobbying for an event of this caliber, social media has been ablaze about the news. So many things were in question prior to this announcement. Which promoter could partner to help make this possible? Which venue would be suitable? Would it make sense for Armin to take a trip up to NorCal despite having so many successful events in the Los Angeles area? Would the market be worth while for After failed campaigns to bring ASOT 600 and ASOT 650 to SF, it almost seemed like a pipe dream that the Bay Area would ever be a landmark for one of the bigger events thrown the world’s #2 DJ of 2013 (#1 in our hearts and for 5 years before that).

“Unlike today, now that it’s all based on short sets and quick highlights, it used to be all about the long sets, the musical trips. That’s what Armin Only is based on – to take the clubbers on a [five]-plus hour journey into music. Through the Armin Only Intense shows, I can tell them the full story of my Intense album – in fact of everything I’d like to say.” – Armin van Buuren.
